The Evolution of Columbus Art Grand Opening

  • 717 West Town Street Columbus, OH, 43222 United States (map)

Save the Date!

Join us on Friday, August 23, from 5 to 9 p.m., for a reception celebrating the opening of our new exhibition, The Evolution of Columbus Art, featuring rarely seen exhibited works of local artists from private collections. Over 50 fine art pieces will be on display, some depicting Columbus subject matter.

Our guest curators, David Terry and Fred Fochtman, well-known local artists, art collectors, art restorers and appraisers, have selected some of the finest works from the artists, going back over a 150-year period. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to view the pieces, all of which are on loan from several private collections.

The Evolution of Columbus Art will highlight nationally-renowned artists such as George Bellows and Alice Schille along with many other local talents, like Nolan Pennell, Maurice Hague, and Erwin Frey, all of whom helped define the depth and breadth of Columbus' contribution to the American art community. Displayed genres will range from traditional art styles, to editorial cartoons and illustrations, and to non-traditional works. Learn about the artists through stories that will bring the artwork to life.

Contact the Columbus Historical Society at info@columbushistory.org, or check our website at www.columbushistory.org for dates and times of The Evolution of Columbus Art exhibit, which will be running through October 29th.

We look forward to seeing you at our exciting new exhibit.
