Code of Conduct
The Columbus Historical Society (CHS) is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, including all visitors, staff, volunteers, interns, stakeholders, vendors and subcontractors, and community partners.
CHS does not and shall not permit discrimination on the basis of, including but not limited to, race, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of our activities or operations.
Derogatory, aggressive and threatening behaviors towards staff or visitors are not tolerated. This includes but is not limited to:
Verbal abuse including offensive, profane, and vulgar language
Threats of harm or physical violence, or engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct
Use of hate language or symbolism, including expressions targeted at race, nationality, gender identity, sexuality, religion, age, or disability
Trespassing, damaging or disturbing any property, including objects, collection items, and grounds are prohibited.
Handguns, firearms, or deadly weapons are prohibited from the interior and exterior of CHS property.
Service Animals, as defined by state and federal laws and regulations, are welcome at CHS.
Those who fail to comply with these expectations will be requested to change their behavior immediately. Repeated disregard of the Code of Conduct may result in expulsion from the premises. If issues continue, we reserve the right to deny access to our site and services, including revoking membership.
The Code of Conduct expectations are reviewed as needed and subject to change at any time.
