Volunteer, internship, Work-study, and Committee opportunities

Our volunteers and interns are vital to the day-to-day operations! Interested in helping us preserve the history of Central Ohio? Below is a list of needed volunteer positions. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator below.

Work-Study Opportunities

CHS is hiring work-study students from Columbus State Community College and the Ohio State University for the 2026-2027 school year. Qualified students can apply via the Columbus State and Ohio State job portal later in the summer. OSU job posts are R132048 and R132055.

Volunteering and Internship Opportunities

  • Social Media and Non-Profit Volunteer- Opportunity Closed

    • Tuesday 19-2, Wednesday 10-4, and/or Friday 10-2.

    • Preference given to students currently enrolled in coursework related to history, communications, marketing, or non-profit/arts management or a recent graduate in these or related fields.

    • Minimum time requirement is four 5 hour shifts a month.

    • Interested students should contact Aimee Briley at abriley@columbushistory.org indicating the “Non-Profit/Social Media Volunteer” in the subject and send a résumé and cover letter.  Questions about this opportunity may also be sent to this address. 

  • Collection Volunteer on Intern- Opportunity Closed

    • Tuesday 9-2, Wednesday 9-4, and/or Friday 10-2

    • Attention to detail

    • Interest in history. History coursework a bonus.

    • Love of organizing

    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

    • Experienced with data entry

    • Minimum time requirement is three 2-4 hour shifts a month
